LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- More than a year after a Louisville toddler was shot in her mother's arms, the fifth suspect in her murder is finally in jail.

Duwan Mason, 29, was arrested more than 150 miles from Louisville Tuesday night.

US Marshals found him in a Nashville apartment after getting information he could be there.

Mason was wanted in connection to the murder of 16-month-old Ne'Riah Miller.

"I was so excited," said Sherrie Miller, Ne'Riah's great-grandmother. "I said this is the wonderful, wonderful Christmas gift that we could get."

Mason had been on the run for months.

"Now we can go on with this and just get it all over so that we can get some rest and the wound won't keep opening," Miller told WDRB News.

It was August of last year when Ne'riah and her mother, Cierra Twyman-Miller, were gunned down on the front porch of their Shawnee neighborhood home.

Twyman-Miller survived but her little girl did not.

Four people have already been arrested: Michael Dunn Jr., William Mclemore, Demarkus Tramber and Trey Anderson.

Anderson told investigators the shooting was in retaliation to another shooting.

In police interviews obtained by WDRB, he also told a detective several people shot at a different home on 37th Street before one person ran to Twyman-Miller's porch next door.

He identifies that shooter as "Gator," a name police say Duwan Mason is known by.

"At the end of the day, when it all comes out, then they gonna point fingers at each other," Miller said. "So we don't know who did what and that's what we want to find out, who did what. My thing is why, why would you shoot at 16-month-old baby?"

The five men are each facing several charges, including complicity to murder and assault.

"I want all of them to have the fullest punishment because it was senseless, very senseless what they did," Miller said.

Officials say Mason has been charged with being a fugitive from justice in Nashville

He's being held on a $250,000 bond pending extradition to Kentucky.
