LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Spreading holiday cheer to senior citizens on Christmas Eve.

Recruits with the Louisville Metro Police Department spent Thursday morning at the Westport Place Senior Living Center. The recruits performed Christmas Carols, served breakfast and played interactive games with the seniors.

The future officers say working with the community is one of the best parts of the job.

"It's definitely part of the job of connecting with people and making sure we are part of this community," said Lawman Chibundi. "And sometimes these are our forgotten residents. Especially at Christmas time, we want to make sure they know that they are not forgotten."

The recruits are part of the Metro Academy Class 33.
