Power restored after hours in the dark in Jeffersonville

Posted: Updated:

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- Storms on Wednesday knocked out power to a number of different areas in Southern Indiana.

One of the hardest hit areas was a section of Jeffersonville near Webster Boulevard in the Oak Park neighborhood.

Nearly 140 Duke Energy customers were without power from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 6 p.m. Thursday.

A tree was knocked over in the storm, and high winds Wednesday caused a power pole to topple over. Work crews spent most of Thursday afternoon erected a new pole and getting power restored. The storms brought other, more scattered outages on both sides of the river.

Neighbors were happy to have power restored in time for Christmas Eve dinner.
