LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two suspects are in custody after two convenience store robberies early Monday morning and detectives are still looking for a third suspect.

Police tell us 18-year-old Cameron Mason and 20-year-old Joseph Colvin were arrested Monday. They're both accused of robbing a Circle K at Newburg Road and Shepherdsville Road early Monday.

Police say they later hit a Five Star convenience store at Fern Valley Road and Signature Drive. That robbery happened just before 3 a.m., and the manager tells us both men came in with guns and demanded money.

It was after that hold-up that we're told officers in the area saw the two suspects.

"They happened to be in the area of Fern Valley and Signature Drive at the time, around the time that robbery happening over there," LMPD Spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said. "They simply saw those individuals fitting the description from the earlier robbery and simply were keen enough to see that and were able to make an arrest."

Police say Mason and Colvin were taken into custody after trying to run away.

Police also chased a third suspect in a car. LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell says after a short chase the man bolted from the car and ran. Investigators are still trying to track him down.

We asked police if these men are connected to a strong of robberies that happened over the weekend.

"We're questioning them at this time," said LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell. "We don't know that definitively, but we certainly haven't ruled that out. "Obviously it's in the same area that some of those (robberies) were occurring and it would be prudent enough for us to look to see they were connected."

Four Louisville businesses were robbed on Christmas morning. In those cases, the suspect had a gun and demanded cash. Police say he hit three hotels and a Waffle House within about four hours.

We do know that Mason is a suspect in two other robberies earlier this month. According to an arrest report, Mason robbed a Marathon in the 5600 block of S. 3rd Street on Dec. 15; police say Mason also robbed Al's Food Mart in the 1400 block of Dixie Hwy.

Mason is also accused of using a stolen car when he allegedly robbed the businesses He is charged with four counts of armed robbery and one count of receiving stolen property over $10,000. He is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.

Colvin is charged with two counts of robbery and receiving stolen property over $10,000.
