LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police arrested a woman officials say harmed her two-year-old nephew, while the child was in her care.

Authorities say Diane Homeister-Mandujano, 43, was arrested on Saturday.

The official police warrant states that Homeister-Mandujano's two-year-old nephew was in her care from Dec. 6 through Dec 11 of last year.

Investigators say during that time, the child "sustained bruising/redness to face and a large burn on his buttocks."

Police say the child's mother noticed the injuries and contacted police. The child was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital to be treated.

Homeister-Mandujano is charged with criminal abuse.

Jail officials say she was released from custody after posting bond.
