LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man officials say nearly ran over a police officer.

James McClelland, 28, was arrested Monday in the area of Cane Run Road and Rockford Lane, according to the official police report.

Officials say the alleged incident happened just before 3 p.m. on Dec. 20.

Police say the officer was conducting an investigation at the time the incident occurred.

Authorities say the officer recognized McClelland because the officer stopped him the day before and conducted a field contact interview.

Investigators say McClelland fled the scene in a black Nissan Sentra and hit an LMPD vehicle.

McClelland is charged with wanton endangerment.

He is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections and was expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
