LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A judge rules on the legal battle over the Southeast Bullitt Fire Department.

It involves a disagreement between the Southeast Bullitt Fire Protection District and the Fire Department.

The district is responsible for turning tax revenue over to the department, which then provides fire protection services.

Issues arose after a WDRB investigation uncovered possible mismanagement of funds by the former fire chief Julius Hatfield.

The district claimed a contract between the two groups was no longer valid, but the department thought otherwise.

Judge Rodney Burress ruled in favor of the fire department Wednesday saying the contract remains in effect.
