Friends beg for answers in woman's unsolved murder

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Months after a woman was murdered, her body found in a garbage can, the case remains unsolved. Family and friends of Monica White gathered on New Year's Day to remember her life and bring attention to the case.

Louisville Metro police continue investigating the case of White. She was found in a garbage can on the afternoon of Sept. 4 at the intersection of 41st Street and Doerhoffer Avenue in the Chickasaw neighborhood. She lived nearby. Friends never thought they would end the year without answers.

"Whoever did this, I know you can't sleep at night," said Cynara Mack, a friend of White's. "I know you're being tormented. She was a child of God. There will be justice."

At the vigil Friday, White's friends did not hold back how they feel. But the victim's son, Anthony White, remained silent. It took a lot of courage for him to even be standing there. It was the first time he had visited the site where his mother's body was found.

"It's sad, she didn't have to go that way, she was a wonderful person, a beautiful person, good spirit, good hearted and everything. She'll give you the clothes off her back," said Mack.

White would have been 51 on Dec. 29.

Another friend, Ricardo Williams, got everyone together for the ceremony to bring attention to the case.

"I've been calling the metro homicide every other week," he said. "They seem to not come up with anything right now, so it's what brought us together: to see what we can bring on and find this perpetrator and make some sense out of this."

Officials have not released how White was killed or information about her autopsy or toxicology reports.

"Anybody, if you know anything, just please let the officials know, let a family member know," Mack said. "We just want closure, please. we just beg."
