LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police in Shively are investigating a deadly weekend shooting.

Police say officers received a call about shots fired around 11 p.m. Saturday on Chester Road near Dixie Highway.

"Apparently a neighbor had heard a series of gunshots and had gone outside to check and see if she could see anything," said Sgt. Josh Myers with the Shively Police Department. "She noticed that one of her neighbor's apartment doors were staying open, therefore then called the police."

Lloyd Jones, 49, was found dead near his apartment building. Officials with the Jefferson County Coroner's Office say Jones died of multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

“Whoever did this, they do this all the time. It’s not like you just wake up and go kill somebody,” said Jones’ sister, Helen Neal.

Neal says her other brother, Craig Jones was also shot to death in 2005.

"Now my family's going through something we just went through 10 years ago," Neal said. "We just got back on our feet praying and hoping that we can become a family again and just show love. And now, we're right back where we started at."

Neal says her family was also the victim of another violent crime on Saturday night. Around the same time that Lloyd Jones was shot, Neal says three masked men broke into another relative’s home on South 25th Street in Louisville and tied people up.

“When they pushed that door open, they pushed it in on them and held them at gunpoint. Made them lay on the floor of the living room,” Neal said. “They ordered them to the floor and asked for money. Looking for a safe.”

While few details have been released about the apparent home invasion, Shively Police say they are looking into the possibility of a connection between the two incidents.

No arrests have been made in the death of Lloyd Jones.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Shively Police at (502) 930-2SPD.
