LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police arrested a Louisville woman after officials say her daughter told them her mom had used illegal drugs.

Tonya McDaniel, 39, was arrested Sunday evening in the 200 block of Hiawatha Avenue, near Allmond Avenue, according to the official police report.

Authorities say police responded to the scene after McDaniel's daughter said she was concerned about the welfare of her younger brother.

Police say McDaniel's daughter said, "she witnessed her mother injecting methamphetamine with a syringe."

Authorities say two children were found inside the home.

Officials say McDaniel was found inside a run-down building in the backyard hiding in a closet.

Investigators say, "baggies with white powder residue, two spoons with residue, multiple syringes and a box cutter with unknown residue" were found inside McDaniel's purse during a search.

McDaniel is charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
