Suspect in custody following police pursuit through southwest Jefferson County

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- LMPD arrested a suspect late Wednesday afternoon following a police pursuit that wound through parts of southwestern Louisville and into Bullitt County at times.

Detectives were investigating a homicide that happened earlier in the day Wednesday when they were given information on a possible suspect, Major Jimmy Harper said on scene.

“The individual entered a car and detectives attempted to stop him and he fled the scene,” Maj. Harper said.

Officers chased Delbert Mattingly, 32, through southwest Jefferson County, which ended at Tennis Boulevard and Ethan Allen Way.

Louisville Metro Police said later the driver apprehended is not believed to be a suspect in the homicide, but he has been charged in connection to the chase.

“We’re not 100 percent sure. There are a lot of pieces to the puzzle,” Harper said. “We’re going to make sure we do our due diligence.”

Harper said Mattingly was not injured to the point of needing serious medical care.

He added there is still an active, ongoing search for suspects in the case.

Mattingly has been charged with two counts of wanton endangerment, fleeing and evading, and criminal mischief.
