LMPD: Suspect arrested, victim identified in Wednesday's Valley Station murder
Police said earlier Thursday they were questioning a person of interest after a man was fatally shot in Valley Station Wednesday morning.
LOUISVILLE, Ky.(WDRB) -- Police say they have arrested a suspect after a man was fatally shot in Valley Station Wednesday morning.
According to LMPD, 20-year-old Austin Patton was arrested Thursday morning at an extended stay hotel in Shepherdsville. He has been charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Authorities say the shooting happened at Patton's home on Autumn Lake Drive in the Autumn Lake Pointe mobile home park around 11 a.m. on Jan. 6.
Police say 38-year-old Marc Morgan was shot once in the chest was pronounced dead at University Hospital shortly after noon.
LMPD said Patton admitted to shooting the victim during an ‘altercation,' and that Patton knew Morgan and his father.
Smiley added that Patton ran away from his home and tried to sell the gun he used to an acquaintance.
Investigators say the victim, a male in his 30s, was shot one time and later died at University Hospital.
