Falls of the Ohio Interpretive Center celebrates opening weekend after $6 million renovation

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's opening weekend for the new Falls of the Ohio Interpretive Center.

The newly-renovated center in Clarksville re-opened Friday.

Crews spent the past year gutting the outdated facility, replacing the 20-year-old exhibits with high tech interactive displays.

The renovations cost about $6 million.

"Our new exhibits are more immersive, they're more hands on," property manager Lucas Green said. "We wanted to bring that component into our exhibits. As museums are beginning to renovate, they're going toward more interactive things, more touchable things. So, we were hoping to do that in our experience and bring our exhibits up to date."

The Falls of the Ohio Interpretive Center is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m.
