Neighbors want changes after cars, homes shot near Shelby Park

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – For Traci Foster’s parents, Friday night was like any other at their home near Shelby Park. Things quickly changed though when they say they heard gunshots just outside of their front door.

“My mom texted me this morning, and she was like, ‘me and Tommy's car got shot up’ and so I came over,” said Traci Foster. It was her parent’s cars that were shot.

At first, Foster was worried that her parents might have been targeted, but she quickly realized that wasn’t the case.

“My initial thought was like ‘Oh my God, who would want to shoot up your cars?’” Foster said. “Then she went on to explain that it wasn't just our cars, it was cars around us ... other houses.”

Foster said they counted seven bullet holes in her dad’s car, two in her mom’s car and at least one in her parent’s house.

“They just said they heard all of this shooting, like maybe 15 shots,”  Foster said.

Her parents didn't want to speak on camera, but told WDRB News they heard those shots just before 10 p.m. Friday.

“They were scared to move. They didn't even want to look out the window,”  Foster said of her parents.

One of the bullets lodged in her parent’s home.

“That’s the room that my nieces used to sleep in,” Foster said. “Luckily, they aren't here anymore. But if they were, 9:30 or 10 p.m. would be when they would have been in their room.”

Now, Foster and her parents say they would like to see crime cameras in their neighborhood. Particularly because of the amount of children are usually at Shelby Park.

“I'm scared to come over,” Foster said. “It's pretty unfortunate that you have to live and listen and know these are the things going on.”

No one was hurt in the shooting.
