Crisis phase of LIHEAP program starts Monday

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- There's potential relief for people in Louisville who need help heating their homes.

The crisis phase of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) begins Monday.

It runs through March 31 or as long as available funds last.

People who wish to apply are asked to make an appointment in person on Monday at the Central LIHEAP Office inside the Urban Government Center on Barrett Avenue.

The office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

People who want to apply will need to bring a picture I.D., as well as their most recent LG&E brown bill or an eviction notice if utilities are included in the rent.

LIHEAP does offer emergency assistance if you can't pay your bills and haven't made an appointment.

Just give them a call at 574-1157.
