LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a cross-dressing burglar, according to a news release from the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say the burglary took place on Jan. 6, just before noon, when a homeowner on Rodgers Road in Brooks came home to find a vehicle parked in his driveway.

The homeowner called 911 to report a possibly burglary.

At that point, the suspect, 33-year-old Joshua B. Rutledge, allegedly came out of the home wearing women's clothing, including a striped blouse and dark leggings. According to the news release, Rutledge threw property belonging to the homeowner into his truck and tried to drive away.

But authorities say the homeowner jumped into the passenger side of the truck and pulled out the keys. After a brief struggle, authorities say Rutledge was able to run towards the Industrial Park in Brooks.

Rutledge then broke into a parked semi and changed his clothes, leaving the women's clothing in the semi, according to the news release.

Detectives then took out a warrant against Rutledge. He was arrested by Louisville Metro Police the next day on unrelated charges. He is charged with burglary and assault in connection with this case.

"This case is still under investigation and additional charges will likely be filed," the news release states.
