LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Chinese firms Midea Group Co. and Qingdao Haier Co. are among the bidders for General Electric's Louisville-based appliance division, according to a report Monday by Bloomberg Business.

Citing anonymous sources, Bloomberg reported that each of the companies offered to pay more than $3 billion for the appliance unit and that a sale to an Asian company would run into less regulatory scrutiny than the previously proposed deal with Electrolux.

GE pulled out of the $3.3 billion Electrolux deal last year.
