Ford president praises Louisville workers, offers details about new product

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Ford's President praises Louisville workers and shares details on a new product that will soon be rolling off the line here.

President and CEO Mark Fields talked to WDRB from the North American International Auto Show in Michigan.

He says Kentucky's support of Ford has allowed it to re-invest in both of the Ford facilities in Louisville.

The automaker announced an expansion of the Kentucky Truck Plant in the fall.

It produces the Super Duty pickup truck, which is about to see what Fields calls a revolutionary change.

"The aluminum body allows us to take a lot of weight out of the body which improves functional attributes of vehicle so we're looking forward to launching it and the team in Kentucky is working very hard preparing for that launch," said Fields.

Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin is in Detroit and tweeted he's excited to let CEOs from first class companies around the world know that Kentucky is open for business.

He also re-tweeted a picture showing he's there with Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer.
