LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have arrested a Louisville man authorities say beat and stabbed a victim in the back with a knife.

Alec Downs, 20, was arrested Wednesday morning in the area of Blanton Lane and Dixie Highway, according to official police records.

Authorities say on Nov. 18, 2015, Downs and a co-defendant kicked in the door of a residence in the 7800 block of St. Andrews Church Road, near Blanton Lane.

Police say once inside the home, Downs stabbed the victim one time in the back with a knife.

Investigators also say Downs and the co-defendant beat the victim using their fists.

The men allegedly then fled, according to police.

Officials say witnesses who were present identified Downs for police.

Authorities say the co-defendant was arrested for the incident and provided a statement admitting to the crime and implicated Downs.

The victim was taken to University Hospital by EMS to be treated for "a deep stab wound" to the back. There is no word on the victim's current condition.

Downs is charged with burglary and assault. He is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $75,000 cash bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
