LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – The Louisville Invitational Tournament’s top two seeds advanced Wednesday at Valley High School.
Number 1 seed Trinity knocked off the 16-seed and home standing Valley Vikings 73-62. The Shamrocks were led in scoring by Gabe Schmitt and L.J. Harris, who both scored 17 points each. Trinity will meet Eastern in the quarterfinals Friday at 5:30pm.
The 2-seed Ballard nearly squandered a 14-point lead against Waggener, but held off the Wildcats 67-57. Clivonte Patterson led the way with 21 points and eight rebounds.
“We played a really, really good first half. Defensively we were solid, offensively we executed well. In the second half, we kinda didn’t play that well. You get in a tournament atmosphere like this, you just want to get a win and advance,” said Ballard head coach Chris Renner.
The Bruins will meet Fern Creek in Friday’s quarterfinals. Tipoff time is set for 7pm.
