LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- We now know the name of a 15-year-old high school student who was gunned down in west Louisville Wednesday night.

Family members have identified the victim as Tyler Russell, a student at the Academy @ Shawnee. Police say Russell was shot around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 13 at 20th and Market.

He was taken to University Hospital where the coroner says he was pronounced dead at 10:15 p.m.

JCPS officials say grief counselors are on hand at Academy @ Shawnee.

The coroner is not saying how many times Russell was shot, but his death has been ruled a homicide. So far, there have been no arrests.

People living in the area where the shooting happened say they've become familiar with the sounds of gunshots and sirens.

"You know, it's turning from grownups to teenagers now," said Tarnell Moore, who lives nearby. "It's just tragedy. And it happened a couple blocks down. It's spooky."

Police do not have a description of the suspect, but anyone with information is asked to call the LMPD crime tip line at 502-574-LMPD.
