LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Tonight is the first night for a security change at the KFC Yum! Center.

People attending U of L's basketball game against Pittsburgh must pass through metal detectors. This will be a normal procedure for every event.

Venues across the country are adding similar systems.

Officials say the new metal detectors were expensive to install, but worth it to help keep people safe. The cost to install the metal detectors at each of the Yum Center's 28 entrances was $200,000.

The Yum! Center is also adding security guards, and restricting the size of purses to 14 inches long and deep and six inches wide. Big, bulky bags are no longer allowed.

Tonight's game starts at 9 o'clock.
