Lawsuit claims Oldham wet/dry vote was invalid

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Oldham County may have to hold off on expanded alcohol sales.

A resident has filed a lawsuit saying last month's "yes" vote is invalid because certain procedures weren't followed. A certain number of voters had to sign a petition to hold the special election.

The lawsuit claims some names were duplicated, some were names of people that had moved out of the county, and some were dead.

The petition asks for the "yes" vote to be set aside until the lawsuit is resolved.

The vote passed with 5,688 in favor and 3,420 against.

A hearing is set for later this month.
