Hundreds rally in Frankfort for Children's Advocacy Day

Posted: Updated:

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WDRB) -- Making Kentucky more kid-friendly: that was the idea behind a huge rally at the State Capitol in Frankfort in which hundreds gathered for the annual Children's Advocacy Day.

They're pushing to make sure the General Assembly passes legislation that would benefit the state's kids.

The event attracted both Republicans and Democrats.

"Our real message is that, in a world in which issues honorably divide people, kids offer a common ground that we can all come together as Kentuckians," said Terry Brooks of Kentucky Youth Advocates.

Brooks says Kentucky Youth Advocates is pushing about a dozen bills having to do with early childhood education, juvenile justice and child abuse.
