James Comer to run for U.S. Congress

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Former Agriculture Commissioner James Comer is running for U.S. Congress.

He filed the paperwork for Kentucky's 1st District, which includes much of Western Kentucky.

The Republican finished second in last year's Republican primary for governor by 83 votes, but performed well in the 1st District.

He will face at least three competitors in the race for the seat.

Representative Ed Whitfield decided not to run for re-election after 20 years in office.
