LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- On the first night the KFC Yum! Center rolled out new security measures, some fans had trouble getting in on time.
There were lots of changes from the time you hit the plaza. Before, you'd hear an announcement welcoming you to the Yum! Center. Now, you'll hear instructions on getting through security.

Louisville basketball fans were the first to test the new security measures as hundreds lined up two hours before the game even started.

Doors opened at 7:30 p.m. and fans began filing in to meet 240 greeters. Some searched bags and some wanded fans, while others manned 22 metal detectors.

"It was painless -- opened my purse like they said and they let us through," U of L fan Becky Schweinfurth said.

"You've gotta pull some things out of your pockets, but it's good. We need to know," another fan, James Jackson, said.

About 19,000 fans turned out for the game against Pittsburgh. Officials say the plan is to open the doors about 90 minutes before every event.

They're asking fans come early to get through security.
