Man suspected in crime spree with pregnant girlfriend pleads not guilty

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The man accused of committing several crimes with his pregnant girlfriend was in court Friday.
A not guilty plea was entered for Joseph Ducette, and he was ordered to have no contact with his girlfriend.
Ducette and his girlfriend, Jamie Veazey, are accused of selling stolen items at local pawn shops. Investigators say they've been told both are addicted to heroin.
Ducette and Veazey were spotted at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville and taken into custody. We're told Veazey thought she was going into labor, but it ended up being a false alarm.
Both are now facing multiple charges, but Veazey was not booked into jail.
"We were told she was going into labor," said LMPD Detective Rodney Underwood. "With the help of Jeffersonville PD, we were able to capture them over there and they agreed to come back and talk to us at the office."
Veazey was not taken to jail; instead, she was cited and released.
"That was one of our things we had to deal with, we've got to think about that little baby more so than putting her in jail tonight," Underwood said.
Police say Veazey was going to return to the hospital with her family.
