LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two people were taken to the hospital Friday morning after the driver of an SUV crashed while trying to avoid debris on the interstate.
According to a news release from Indiana State Police, it happened around 10:15 a.m. on I-65 near the 49 mile marker, just south of exit 50 near Seymour.
Investigators say the driver of a 2002 Ford Explorer was southbound on I-65 when he swerved to the other lane to avoid a large tarp in his path. That's when police say the driver lost control of the vehicle, which flipped several times into the median.
The driver and a front seat passenger were both injured and taken to hospitals for treatment. Police say their injuries were not considered life-threatening. Three other passengers suffered minor injuries and refused treatment.
Police were unable to locate the vehicle that lost the tarp.
