Mother of murdered Louisville model: 'She was meant to be famous and not in death'

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Sunday marked a somber anniversary for friends and family of a murdered model.

The body of Kristine Pierson, 24, was found Jan. 17, 2014, in an alley near North 33rd Street and Rudd Avenue in the Portland neighborhood.

Two years later, loved ones gathered at the scene to release balloons with messages for the slain young woman.

“It’s hard. I miss her so much,” said Cheryl Browning, Pierson’s mother. “She was meant to be famous and not in death.”

Browning says the last 72 hours of Pierson’s life are a mystery. She says her daughter’s body had been burned, but few other details have been released and no arrests have been made.

“It’s hard. It’s still as hard today as it was that day,” said Shanna Bryant, a close friend of Pierson’s. “We all want to know why and who. She deserves justice.”

Pierson’s friends and family say they plan to come together each and every year until the person or persons responsible are caught.

“Everybody is turning a blind eye to what they hear and see, and I think someone is doing that now in my daughter’s case. She could be your daughter,” Browning said.

“I just wish that someone could speak up and at least just help us find the timeline of what happened. I just need those people to step up.”

Anyone with information on the investigation is asked to contact the Louisville Police anonymous tip line at (502) 574-LMPD.
