Kentucky Humane Society cautions pet owners to bring animals inside during frigid weather

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- This week's cold weather can be harmful for your pets.

The Kentucky Humane Society is reminding pet owners to bring the animals inside when the temperature drops.

Pets can get frostbite on their noses, ears and paws. They could also be at risk of hypothermia and death.

The Humane Society tells pet owners to avoid salt and chemical melting products for the snow that could be toxic for animals -- and wipe their paws and stomachs when they come inside.
