BOZICH | Louisville overtakes Kentucky, Indiana reappears in AP Top 25 poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – On November 23 the Kentucky basketball team drew 59 first-place votes and the top ranking in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.

The Wildcats held those votes – and the top spot – for another week

Then came an unexpected loss at UCLA.

Then came an even stranger stumble against Ohio State on a neutral court.

Mix in losses to Louisiana State and lowly Auburn on Saturday and what do you have?

Reason to wonder if the Wildcats would hold a spot in the AP Top 25.

They did.

But Kentucky slipped to 23, six spots behind Louisville in the latest poll, which was released at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Louisville advanced from 21 to 17 after defeating Pittsburgh in the Cardinals’ only game last week.

Indiana also advanced, climbing from 27th to 25th. The Hoosiers exited the poll on Nov. 30 after losing to Wake Forest and UNLV in the Maui Invitational.
