LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A couple in Vevay, Indiana that offered to sell their house for $199 to the person who penned the best essay explaining why they should have it says not enough entries were received so they're refunding everyone's money.

Rhonda Pennington and her husband had offered to give the 4-bedroom cedar home with vaulted ceilings to the person who submitted the best essay of 200 words or less along with a $199 entry fee.

The contest rules stated that at least 2,000 entries had to be received or refunds would be issued to those who did enter.

Now the contest entry page contains the following message letting people know there was no winner and that refunds are forthcoming:

“The River House would like to thank everyone who entered and supported the contest. Unfortunately not enough entries were received. The bank will begin the refund process and should have complete in 30 days. Again thank you. River Valley Financial Bank has mailed refunds to contestants who mailed entries or used paypal (we discontinued using paypal in Sept.)."

There's no word on how many entries were received, but Pennington told WDRB in September that they had received entries from 33 states.
