LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A teacher in La Vergne, Tennessee near Nashville was arrested after police say they found three kids in the trunk of her car.

Nine kids, ages 8 to 10, were in the car. A witness at a Speedway gas station called police on Sunday when saw children get out of the trunk. The teacher, Andria James, claims the kids never rode in trunk and were just getting their stuff.

"When the trunk came up, we had all their things in the back trunk because they needed to go home." James said. "I only needed to transport them home at this point."

But police don't believe her story.

According to Sgt. Bob Hayes, police "were able to review video footage of the gas pumps and observe the vehicle pull up to the gas pump and three children exit the trunk of the vehicle once it stopped at the gas pump."

James told police that she picked the kids up after a basketball game.

Police called the students' parents to pick them up and they say parents were furious.

James is facing several charges including reckless endangerment.
