Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- With the threat of winter weather hanging over much of central Kentucky for Friday, Governor Matt Bevin announced Thursday all state government offices would be closed for the day.

The announcement came just a few hours after the Kentucky Senate and House of Representatives would not convene on Friday, but would reconvene Monday, Jan. 25.

As for state government employees, those designated for mandatory operations will be required to report "as directed by agency management."

Essential employees include, but are not limited to:

  1. Employees who work in 24-hour facilities such as parks, hospitals, prisons, or residential facilities;
  2. Law enforcement and emergency management personnel
  3. Highway and road crews.
