Wintry weather leads to flight cancellations at Louisville International Airport

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- If you're flying out of Louisville today, be sure to check to see if it has been cancelled.

Officials with the Louisville International Airport say about half of departing flights have been delayed or cancelled. Many of those flights were heading to the East Coast.

As the snow continues to fall, more flights could be cancelled.

One couple who has spent the last six months planning a trip to Florida says they were surprised and ecstatic when they found out their flight was not cancelled.

"I guess in the last three days when the weather reports started coming out it was kind of nerve-racking to know if we were going to get on the plane or not, but it looks like we're going to get on," said Cheryl Kizer.

To keep flights on time the airport has two snow teams to clear and de-ice runways.

Flight updates can also be found on the airport's website, FlyLouisville.com
