LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – A high school student in Edmonson County says she was humiliated by her school's principal over a dress she wore last week, according to WBKO.

Senior Amanda Durbin told the station she wore a dress she considered a normal part of her closet, but it got her in trouble and left her feeling embarrassed on Friday, Jan. 15.

“I felt like I was somebody that had done something wrong even though I know I hadn’t,” Durbin told WBKO.

She said the principal made her kneel in front of him to measure how far the end of her dress was from the floor.

"If the gap between the floor and the garment is more than six inches it's out of dress code," Edmonson County High School principal Tommy Hodges told WBKO in an interview Monday.

Hodges added several boys have been written up for dress code violations and that all students have access to the dress code in their handbooks.

“I didn’t really appreciate having to get down on my knees, especially while I was in a dress,” she told BuzzFeed. “It did make me feel a little embarrassed, a little insecure of myself.”

Durbin said at least 30 to 40 or more girls were sent home because they, too, were out of dress code.
