Road conditions deteriorate under heavier snowfall south of Jefferson County

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- About two hours southeast of Louisville, near Springfield, Ky., almost 14 inches of snow reportedly fell across the area.

The roads in Lebanon were so bad, we couldn't even get there. The roads across the area south of Louisville were terrible Friday night, but quite a bit more snow fell in that area.

We took I-65 south to Elizabethtown, which was pretty clear. But the Bluegrass Parkway still had several inches of snow on it.

When we headed toward Lebanon, it was even worse. We had to go about 20 miles per hour and we were catching snow drifts and slick spots the whole way.

A lot of restaurants and stores were closed all evening, but one spot in Springfield decided to stay open -- and it seemed busy.

"We've been really busy," Ken Wallen said. "We're the only thing opened in town...we're always open. Kinda like death and taxes, we're always open."
