Memorial at Jeffersonville library honors fallen soldiers since Sept. 11

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A traveling war memorial made a stop Saturday in Jeffersonville.

The Indiana section of the Remembering Our Fallen is up at the main library branch on East Court Avenue.

This memorial travels all over the state, part of a national memorial for fallen soldiers who've died in the war on terror since Sept. 11, 2001.

One of the organizers says the memorial honors his own son after he was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq in 2004.

"Leaves a hole in our lives that can never be filled," Greg Gilkey said. "But at the same time, it brings us much comfort to know that he will never be forgotten. Everyone that looks at the exhibit, not just at Dan but all of the heroes, will remember them and know of them."

The exhibit will be up at the library through next Saturday.
