LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The truck driver that caused the historic Paoli Bridge to collapse is expected in court today.

Mary Lambright, 23, tried to drive over the iron bridge in Paoli on Christmas Day but her truck was too tall and too heavy.

That resulted in the historic structure collapsing.

Officials say her truck was carrying thousands of bottles of water and its weight was nearly six times the posted limit.

Lambright told police she saw the six-ton weight limit sign, but didn't know how that translated into pounds.

Her truck was also too tall for the bridge.

Lambright was cited for three traffic infractions and a misdemeanor.
