BOZICH | Oklahoma remains Number One as U of L, UK, IU gain in AP poll

Louisville, Kentucky and Indiana gained in the AP Top 25 poll. Louisville, Kentucky and Indiana gained in the AP Top 25 poll.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Nationally, the story was simple:

Which team was going to grab the top spot in the AP college basketball poll after Oklahoma, the top team last week, lost at Iowa State?

The answer is … still Oklahoma.

Although a week after earning all 65 first-place votes, coach Lon Kruger’s team earned only 36 this time. The other 29 went to North Carolina.

Locally the story was different: How many spots would Louisville, Kentucky and Indiana gain in the poll after the three teams combined to go 6-0 last week.

Here is the answer to that question:

For Louisville, the Cardinals gained one spot from 17th to 16th.

For Kentucky, the Wildcats gained three spots from 23 to 20th.

For Indiana, the Hoosiers jumped six spots from 25 to 19th.
