LMAS: Owners found, investigation continues into dog rescued from dumpster

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The owners of a dog that was rescued from a dumpster have been found.

Officials with Louisville Metro Animal Services say they have spoken with the owners but are still sorting out the facts of what happened.

LMAS has named the dog Packer.

He was found locked in a cage in a trash compactor that jammed earlier this month at Norton Commons in east Louisville.

The case is still open and officials say they are not prepared to file charges right now.

The dog will stay with LMAS during the investigation.
