State officials scrap plans to widen Chenoweth lane

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – After widespread push back from residents and community members, the state transportation cabinet has scrapped a proposed plan to widen Chenoweth Lane in St. Matthews.

The street connects Brownsboro Road to Shelbyville Road in St. Matthews and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet had asked the public to weigh in on possible widening project.

But on Wednesday, state officials let opponents know the three-lane widening is no longer under consideration.

"The decision was made to remove the three-lane widening of Chenoweth Lane from consideration for this project because 1) the capacity analysis and future traffic growth do not warrant three lanes throughout, 2) public opposition to the widening, and 3) the benefits will not be realized by the cost of a three lane widening project (Cost/Benefit ratio),” a statement read. “Other alternatives are still being considered and will be presented at the next public meeting at the end of February."
