LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Bellarmine men and women's basketball teams played host to Saint Joseph's. Neither group were generous with their guests.
The men put together one of their best all-around games of the season, scoring 57 first half points and 56 in the second half. It added up to a 113-60 destruction of the Pumas to move to 16-3 on the season and 9-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Knights shot 66 percent from the field, including 11-of-21 three's. They also made all ten of their free throw attempts.
Fourteen of the fifteen Knights scored. Rusty Troutman and Josh Derksen each had 14. Brent Bach and Nick Fredrick both tallied 13 and George Suggs had 12, along with becoming the school's all-time blocks leader.
The Bellarmine women (14-2, 8-2) handled Saint Joseph's 85-65. Sarah Galvin made 7-of-8 shots from the field and 10-of-12 free throws for 24 points. Whitney Hartlage and Ally Mayhaus also hit double figures with 14 apiece. The league leaders in assists amassed 25 on 31 made field goals.
The Bellarmine Women host Indianapolis Saturday at 5:45 pm Saturday. The Men host UIndy at 8:00 pm Saturday.
