Officials say Omni Hotel not just for tourists

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Ground was broken Friday in downtown Louisville for what will soon be the city's tallest hotel.

Rob Rowling, the owner/chairman of Omni Hotels and Resorts, says the hotel will blow away tourists and residents alike.

"It's not just for tourists," Rowling said. "The locals will like it as much as the guests coming into town. Over time, this site is going to be the living room for Louisville."

The development will include more than 600 hotel rooms and 225 luxury apartments on 30 floors.

The bottom section of the hotel is also set to include a grocery store, various shops and restaurants, with an art gallery in the lobby.

Dining options include a three meal a day restaurant, lobby lounge, rooftop pool bar and grill, as well as an iconic Bob’s Steak & Chop House as the hotel’s fine dining establishment.

When it's finished in the spring of 2018, the Omni will be Louisville's tallest hotel.
