Students, family and friends paying last respects to Indianapolis principal killed by bus

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Friends, family and students past and present are paying their final respects to an Indianapolis principal who was struck and killed by a school bus while pushing students to safety.

They went to St. Luke's United Methodist Church to attend visitation Friday for 69-year-old Susan Jordan of Amy Beverland Elementary School on the city's far northeast side.

WXIN-TV reports some young students held flowers and wore Amy Beverland shirts.

Student Bryson Luter says Jordan "was kind and caring and when we did just something good, she was just nice to you."

Jordan's funeral will be held at the church Saturday.

Jordan died Tuesday after a school bus jumped a curb, striking her and two 10-year-old students. The two students suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The school resumes classes Monday.
