LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The National Transportation Safety Board has proposed the idea of lowering the legal limit for drinking and driving.

The current limit is a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 for drivers.

In its 2016 Most Wanted List of Transportation Improvements, the NTSB calls on states to lower BAC limits from 0.08 down to 0.05.

The change could mean some people are over the legal limit after just one or two drinks.

But, the NTSB says impairment starts before someone's BAC reached 0.08.

And the risk of a fatal crash at that point more than doubles.
