LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – Sometime in the second half Sunday, Jeff Walz told freshman Asia Durr she was being as useful offensively as Walz’s two-year-old daughter.
That didn’t go offer too well with Durr.
“She takes a three and hits it,” said Walz. “I love how they kind of look at you, like ‘See, I got you back.’”
The freshman responded to her coach’s challenge by scoring 11 of her team’s 15 points during a key 15-0 run as the 14th ranked Louisville Cardinals beat Wake Forest 78-54 at the KFC Yum! Center.
Durr finished with 18 points.
“I was just trying to stay aggressive,” said Durr whose team has now won 14 straight. “Coach got upset when I didn’t shoot. I was just trying to go out there and shoot.”
Mariya Moore led all scorers with 26 points. She was 5-10 from downtown.
Louisville (17-5, 9-0 ACC) is back in action Thursday at North Carolina.
