BOZICH | Louisville stays one spot ahead of Kentucky in AP poll; IU drops; Duke exits

Louisville plays host to second-ranked North Carolina Tuesday night. Louisville plays host to second-ranked North Carolina Tuesday night.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – North Carolina will not arrive at the KFC Yum! Center Monday night as the top-ranked team in college basketball.

But the Tar Heels are close. They received 20 first-place votes in the latest AP Top 25, placing them second behind Oklahoma for the second consecutive week.The Sooners were the top pick of 45 voters.

North Carolina will play Louisville at 7 p.m. Sean McDonough and Doris Burke have the call on ESPN, with Kaylee Hartung serving as the sideline reporter. The game officials will be Bryan Kersey, Mike Eades and Bill Covington Jr.

The Cardinals dropped from 16th to 19th after losing to Virginia by 16 points Saturday.

Kentucky also split two games last week. The Wildcats are ranked 20th  after also finishing 20th last week. Kentucky plays at Tennessee Tuesday night.

Indiana beat Minnesota after losing in overtime at Wisconsin. After placing 19th last week, Tom Crean’s team was voted  22nd  this week. IU visits Michigan Tuesday.
