Fund for the Arts campaign kicks off with annual showcase Feb. 2

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Fund for the Arts Annual Arts Showcase & Campaign Kickoff happens Tuesday, February 2nd at Churchill Downs.
The event is an annual celebration of the vibrant performing arts groups in Louisville.
1,400 people are expected to attend the free and open to the public event.
Arts groups from around the area are schedule to perform during the luncheon from Kentucky Shakespeare to school age singers.
A new "Louisville Arts Link" mobile app will be unveiled to make it easier for people to find entertainment in the Louisville area.
The app will also include a donors' interface, where donors at the $52 per year level or higher can access exclusive offers and ticket specials.
Offers will include special ticket packages, first option to purchase, free performances and last-minute discount offers.
Those wishing to support the arts can also make donations to Fund for the Arts directly via the mobile app. The app was created by a team of volunteers from the Humana Digital Experience Center.
Fund for the Arts is the oldest united arts fund in the country and has generated more than $188 million since its establishment in 1949.
In 2014, the Fund for the Arts awarded 516 grants to 162 schools and community organizations throughout the region to provide financing for arts experiences and administrative support.
