LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man has been charged with theft after authorities say he took over $10,000 from a local used car dealership.

According to a criminal summons, it happened on Jan. 9 at the Automax Supercenter.

Police say 48-year-old Tony Wallace, an employee at the store, was captured on video surveillance walking into the bookkeeper's office, looking around and taking cash envelopes from the bookkeeper's purse in the amount of $10,900. He then allegedly hid the money on his person and left the office.

According to the summons, a representative of the store gave authorities copies of the video surveillance and paper receipts.

Wallace's employment was terminated. He is currently charged with theft by unlawful taking.

A criminal summons was issued on Monday, Feb. 1, and he is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning.
